Position Description: GRI is seeking candidates to serve as Safe Work Environment Team Lead for USAID's anticipated Jordan Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity (WEELA). WEELA will improve women’s access to job markets, enhance the workforce enabling environment, and address inequalities and prohibitive social norms and traditions. The Safe Work Environment Team Lead will design and lead activities to improve enabling environment and workplace dynamics influencing women’s participation in the workforce.
Responsibilities: The Safe Work Environments Team Lead will oversee a team of policy specialists, advisors and program managers to formulate initiatives and activities that enhance Jordan’s current labor laws and provide a more robust legal framework for women in the workplace and the protection of disability rights. The Team Lead will also work with public and private sector stakeholders, business associations, community organizations, women’s leadership and advocacy groups to develop and guide the implementation and enforcement of business-friendly policies to promote women’s leadership and participation in the workforce.
Proven experience in improving policy and regulatory environments to improve workplace safety, equity, and inclusion for women, youth, and persons with disabilities
Demonstrated ability to engage decision-makers and collaborate with diverse range of public and private sector partners
Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience leading safe work environment initiatives and/or women’s economic empowerment activities
Minimum of five (5) years of field experience working in the Middle East, preferably Jordan
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability and interest to live and work in Aman, Jordan
Fluency in both English and Arabic preferred
