Job Title: Construction Engineer - Controls and Automation 


Reports To: Manager Construction


Position Summary: Control and automation engineer will be responsible for Erection, installing , testing and commissioning of a control system for a complex Oil & gas processing  treatment plant which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, equipment and processes involved in functioning of a gas treatment plant. The PLC based control system is being designed by a third party vendor along with Exterran engineering team, this proposed position becomes an interface point in between the Exterran engineering team, the control system manufacturer and the site construction contractor based at Ar Ratawi in Iraq. Your job is to make sure that these systems and processes are designed, built and operated effectively, efficiently and safely.

You will need a thorough understanding of the operational processes of a complex gas treatment plant  as your role is multidisciplinary, working closely with colleagues across a number of functions, including engineering, purchasing, design, construction, commissioning and operations.

Responsibilities:

·       You will be responsible for Erection, installing, testing and commissioning of Field Instrumentation and control system for a complex Oil & gas processing treatment plant, which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, equipment and processes.

·       You will need a thorough understanding of the operational processes of a complex plant  as your role is multidisciplinary, working closely with colleagues across a number of functions, including engineering, purchasing, design, construction, commissioning and operations.

·       Control system is being designed by a third party vendor along with Exterran engineering team, this proposed position becomes an interface point in between the Exterran engineering team, the control system manufacturer and the site construction contractor based at Oman. Your job is to make sure that these systems and processes are integrated, built and operated effectively, efficiently and safely.

·       Monitor the Electrical or Instrumentation scope to ensure contractors and sub-contractors perform the work to agreed scope of work, specifications, and schedules and to an acceptable standard

·       Supervise the contractor’s and sub-contractor’s personnel to ensure all work is carried out to agreed standards for safety, health and environment and to attaining high levels of HSE performance of Client.

·       Monitor the progress and performance of the construction contractor to ensure that they perform to the approved schedule, specification and standards

·       Interface with other groups as required to ensure a good relationship for timely and effective release of Contractors data/drawings and resolution of problems

·       Review look ahead schedules & ensure future work / discipline / interface issues are communicated and resolved

·       Monitor site activities for potential contractual/claims problems Maintain records of site activities and check Contractor records for accuracy

·       Carry out inspection, surveillance witnessing of contractor activities, ensuring records are maintained, including as-built data

Responsibilities in general:

In general tasks and responsibilities will include:

·       liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors

·       project management within cost and time constrained environments

·       understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and quality standards

·       providing advice and consultancy support

·       purchasing equipment

·       Developing new business proposals.

Working hours

12 hours a day, 7 days a week

28 days on and 28 days off

What to expect

·       Your work will be based mainly at the project site located at NIMR-SSFD here will be co-ordination activities with Construction sub-contractor and PMT team  to compete all construction works related to your discipline.

Educational Qualifications:

Preferably a degree in control and instrumentation engineering

Alternatively Electrical and electronic engineering degrees with hands on experience in design and development of control systems.

Work experience

Must have experience in field installation of instruments like Control Valves, ON-Off valves, shutdown valves, flowmeters, Transmitters, Analyzers etc.

Must have handled DCS, ESD, FGS, PLC’s and other systems in terms of planning and implementation of installation, testing & commissioning on oil and gas projects.

Must have experience in installation of cable and tubing systems across field installations, local control stations and central control rooms.

Must have experience in resolution of technical queries and providing clarifications.
