Louis Berger Services is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill Diesel Mechanic positions in Kuwait to support the US Army on the LOGCAP V project.


o Serve as a Diesel Mechanic for the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) services of prime power plant.

o Report to the Plant Manager on all special occurrences such as emergency outages and corrective actions taken to maintain service.

o Troubleshoot and overhaul, rebuild, or make comparable major repairs to Gensets, powered support systems, vehicles, and other major components (e.g., engines, generators, alternators, gears, compressors, and hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical components):

o Assist in the control and distribution of the mechanical and electrical makeup and operation of powered support systems such as those described above, including their major mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components;

o Troubleshoot and repair diesel, gasoline, and/or multi-fuel engines (e.g., overhauling those of 3 to 16 cylinders and up to 2MW of power);

o Gear and govern components for controlling, changing, or transferring speed and power;

o Assist in maintaining electrical power through the power plant and primary distribution system, and in the operation of the central switchboard to actuate controlled circuit breakers, transformers, and switches in order to regulate and maintain proper voltage on the distribution lines;

o When malfunctions occur, assist to isolate and bypass the fault in order to maintain service or take actions to shed low priority loads when full service cannot be maintained;

o Monitors the distribution of electric power to various distribution points;

o Operates switchboard controls to adjust controlled circuit breakers, transformers, and switches to regulate and maintain proper voltage on the distribution lines and at the power generation plant;

o Bring Generators online, parallel generators, and bring generators offline.

o Report abnormal operating conditions and reroute power through alternate feeders to user areas in case of emergency cutouts or extensive scheduled repair;

o Notifies repair crews of the location of failure and assure that circuits are open and tagged before work is started;

o Keeps an hourly log of meter readings and records shutdowns, connection and disconnection of circuits, and similar occurrences;

o Execute the company’s policy and procedure for proper and efficient operation of the power plants;

o Abide by and adhere to all requirements in General Order #1 in conformity with US military standards and practices;


o Experience in medium to large scale O&M prime power diesel gensets (50-60 Liter engines);

o Experienced in working with other technical staff;

o Ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams, schematics, and similar guides covering the complete assembly, troubleshooting, and layout of powered support systems;

o Experienced working in international work environments with expatriate or US military;

o A thorough knowledge of the mechanical and electrical makeup and operation of powered support systems such as those described above, including their major mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components including:

  • Standard Diesel generators
  • Controls
  • Switchgear

Desirable qualifications:

o Ability to follow troubleshooting procedures and use deductive reasons to isolate the fault; and provide step by step feedback on all steps taking;

o Able to take specific verbal and written directions and carryout directions from the shift supervisor. Decisions made are covered by specific, well-established work methods and procedures;

o In the event problems arise, mechanics at this level are able take corrective action in accordance with instructions or notify their supervisor;

o Experience in providing prime power O&M Services to clients

Years of experience:

o Two years of experience operating power plants and five years working on diesel engines.

o Provide Engine Certificate or willingness to take training.
