Summary of Program:
The “Bridging the Gender Digital Divide” Program enhances digital and information literacy amongst women in targeted rural communities and builds social cohesion through community dialogues and positive youth engagement. Working with partner Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in 10 governorates, the Program seeks to adapt and develop training curricula and tool kits to build digital literacy and break down digital divides. The Program leverages IREX’s “Learn To Discern” approach to media and information literacy, a unique training methodology based on videos, games, and other interactive learning experiences. The Program includes a community initiatives component, with particular emphasis on youth civic engagement.
Summary of Position:
The Program Manager is responsible for program workplan and deliverables, day-to-day management of the program, including monitoring, evaluation, and learning and reporting. The program manager leads a small field team including a program coordinator and a grants and finance officer. The program manager reports to the program director in Amman. The program manager will also work closely with a small team at IREX headquarters, in Washington DC, which provides high-level technical advice, ensures compliance with IREX and donor policies and regulations, and offers back-stopping support.
This position is open to Jordanian nationals.
Description of Responsibilities:
* Monitor and oversee workplan implementation
* Manage and mentor a small program field staff
* Lead internal and external technical reporting
* Lead monitoring, evaluation and learning and adapt program activities as necessary in coordination with the Program Director and IREX HQ team
* Outreach to and coordination with local authorities
* Training curricula development and adaptation
* Delivery of trainings of trainers (ToT) and other direct technical assistance
* Manage the program’s small-grants program to 10 CSO partners
* Initiate and moderate social dialogues on gender issues in the communities
* Identify and effectively communicate program successes to internal and external audience.
Qualifications & Skills:
* At least five years of demonstrated progressive professional experience in one of the following fields (preference for candidates with expertise in multiple areas): social cohesion and resilience, peacebuilding, civil society development, positive youth engagement, gender equality and social inclusion
* At least three years in program management positions
* Knowledge and experience in gender and women’s empowerment
* Substantial experience in facilitation and training and curriculum development
* Direct experience organizing and facilitating community and social dialogues
* Familiar with implementing gender sensitive and do-no-harm approaches
* Comfort with monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) strategies and principles of adaptive management
* Ability to communicate professionally and provide written reporting in both English and Arabic
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software and social media skills
* Ability to travel on short, mostly day-trips to all Jordan governorates
