We are recruiting a newly created Cyber role based from our Infrastructure hub in Bunnik. As the Cyber Security Analyst for EMEAR you will proactively monitor/scan all EPSON IT systems and raise incidents / problems request based upon the NIST framework and allocated to the system owners. This includes running vulnerability scanning software daily plus reviewing server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network traffic, establishing and updating virus scans, and troubleshooting. You will also analyze and resolve security breaches and vulnerability issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and conduct user activity audits where required.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee enforcement of policies, procedures, and associated plans for system security administration and user system access based on industry-standard best practices
  • Design and implement disaster recovery plan for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications
  • Assess need for any security reconfigurations (minor or significant) and escalate to system owner
  • Keep current with emerging security alerts and issues
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security enhancement and development efforts

Operational Management

  • Keep up to date with the latest security and technology developments
  • Research/evaluate emerging cyber security threats and ways to manage them
  • Plan for disaster recovery in the event of any security breaches
  • Monitor for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorised or illegal activity
  • Test and evaluate security products
  • Design new security systems or upgrade existing ones
  • Use advanced analytic tools to determine emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities
  • Engage in 'ethical hacking', for example, simulating security breaches
  • Identify potential weaknesses and implement measures, such as firewalls and encryption
  • Investigate security alerts and provide incident response
  • Monitor identity and access management, including monitoring for abuse of permissions by authorised system users
  • Liaise with stakeholders in relation to cyber security issues and provide future recommendations
  • Generate reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders
  • Maintain an information security risk register and assist with internal and external audits relating to information security
  • Monitor and respond to 'phishing' emails and 'pharming' activity
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance and delivery of cyber security awareness training for colleagues
  • Give advice and guidance to staff on issues such as spam and unwanted or malicious emails

  • Ensure the security of databases and data transferred both internally and externally
  • Design, perform, and/or oversee penetration testing of all systems to identify system vulnerabilities
  • Design, implement, and report on security system and end user activity audits
  • Monitor server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret activity and make recommendations for resolution
  • Recommend security patches, disaster recovery procedures, and any other measures required in the event of a security breach
  • Download and test new security software and/or technologies
  • Provide on-call security support to end-users
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team
  • Ensure EPSON remain Cyber Essentials compliant

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Broad hands-on knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices
  • In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows client/server, Unix based system
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network administration/protocols
  • Hands-on experience with devices such as hubs, switches, and routers
  • Knowledge of applicable practices and laws relating to data privacy and protection
  • Knowledge of law enforcement practices and procedures, such as GDPR
  • ISC2 SSCP certification or similar
  • Intuition and keen instincts to pre-empt cyber attacks
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to conduct research into security issues and products as required
  • Strong understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
