Managing the Quality and Food Safety department for Bunge Loders Croklaan in the Netherlands means safeguarding the Food and Feed Quality and Safety at operational and tactical level and meeting our customer needs, while focusing on functional and career development of 5 people in your team. In the role of Quality and Food Safety (QFS) Manager, you will be responsible for the Food safety and Quality Risk Management of 2 plants in the Netherlands (Wormerveer - Greater Amsterdam Region - and Maasvlakte) with a total volume of approximately 1 million tons of oils and fats. The intended use of the oils and fats is for food, feed, specialties and nutrition, including infant nutrition.

What will you be doing as our QFS Manager

  • Quality Assurance

As Quality and Food Safety Manager you are responsible for the food safety and quality risk management of our raw materials, from suppliers, 3rd party tolling and on-site operations. You take part in Audits (FSSC22000, GMP+, Kosher, Halal, Organic) and maintain our Quality Management Systems. You review quality systems including complaints and monitoring raw materials vendors and HACCP.

You are in frequent contact with internal and external stakeholders. Internal are departments such as sales, planning, logistics and operations. External contact are with suppliers, tollers and customers as well as certification, food safety authorities and branch organizations. We are looking for someone that is able to build bridges and who can easily navigate between all the layers of our matrix organization. The ability to promote and install a driving and cooperative culture, which will benefit the all stakeholders in the organization is essential.

  • Market Conformity

In the dynamic quick changing market environment we are in, Quality Management plays a key role. We must make sure that we can meet our customer needs with respect to food contaminants, sustainability, social practices and food legislation. To be their supplier of choice we must proactive improve out standards and work according latest requirements of the Global Food Safety Initiative and leading MNC’s. This is where you come in!

  • Operational Excellence

You are actively involved in the implementation, safeguarding and monitoring of the QFS processes. You keep the food safety/quality management system up-to-date in accordance with internal and external requirements.

Also, you initiate, support and lead improvement processes with regard to quality where necessary, in which you look for continuous improvement.

In this role you will have 5 direct report. You assign tasks, motivate, oversee their performance and development and take the end responsibility when necessary.

What do we expect?

  • A Degree in Food Technology, Chemical Technology, Quality and Food Safety or similar;
  • Minimum 5 year experience as part of a team in quality assurance management, preferably with (some) experience in managing a team - or it being the next logical step in your career;
  • Experience in the food or feed industry (or equivalent in Pharma / Process);
  • Knowledge of relevant systems, such as FSSC22000, IFS, BRC HACCP, GMP+ Kosher, Halal, Organic;
  • Lead Auditor course or audit experience;
  • Fluent business English is mandatory; Dutch should be at least B1 level with the willingness to learn;
