Job Summary: Plans and directs purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, shipping and distribution operations at a local warehouse to guide the enterprise in achieving corporate business goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
- Prepares work forecast for use in determining equipment and manpower.
- Communicates with customers regularly to assist in solving problems and ensuring a strong client base is available to support the business plan objectives.
- Schedules work force to keep productivity at business plan levels in throughput.
- Achieves targeted levels of inventory turns to reduce inventory and increase profitability.
- Controls and verifies all merchandise received and shipped to ensure accuracy and satisfy customer requirements.
- Plans and manages overall department budget and manpower levels in accordance with store orders, work schedule requirements, budget control objectives and business plans.
- Maintains and/or exceeds on time delivery targets and achieves targeted turn around times to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Selects, organizes, trains and motivates a competent staff of subordinates, evaluating performance, interpreting and administering polices and procedures and recommending such pay increase and promotions as are within policy, thus ensuring continuance of a positive program to achieve higher levels of performance.
- Demonstrates purchasing practices that keep the operation within budget through ethical and responsible behavior.
- Directs programs and activities to promote employee job satisfaction, personal growth, and people building.
- Reports to the Regional Distribution Manager issues that pertain to local operations, systems (modernization), major projects etc. for assistance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Communicate effectively with Merchandising, Marketing, Information Systems,
Human Resources, Finance and Loss Prevention.
- Increase safety awareness to work towards eliminating work related accidents. Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years progressively responsible experience in administrative, professional, investigative or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of one or more aspects of physical distribution support. Such experience may have been gained in warehousing, purchasing, merchandising, industrial planning, engineering, inventory control or data processing.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: 1 year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor's degree for 3 years of general experience.
AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 4 years of progressively responsible experience which provided a knowledge of distribution facilities and warehouse management systems, techniques and methods; managing the receipt, storage and distribution of material; reviewing layout and equipment requirements; developing operational programs or procedures; and providing technical assistance; or similar work which demonstrated the knowledge and abilities or warehouse management and the functional area with a minimum of supervision.
