Safety Manager – Aviation We are on the lookout for an experienced Safety Manager within the field of Aviation for an exciting assignment in the Middle East. Our client is a key player within the defence sector, operating within a niche industry and with a global presence in their field of expertise. This high profile appointment requires an influential Safety professional with strong diplomatic skills and ability to affect change in a positive way, both from a technical and cultural perspective. To be successful in this role as Safety Manager you will most likely be educated to Honours degree level with Chartered Engineer status or educated to MSc level within a safety related discipline. The expectation from our client is that you will have significant knowledge and experience in the application of external regulations and standards including: • Def-Stan 00-56 and Def Stan 00-970 • Part 145, Part M • PUWER (1998), HSE (1974) and RIDDOR (1995) In addition, as Safety Manager, you will be expected to have extensive Product Safety and Environmental Engineering knowledge within a management position, and be comfortable leading significant and diverse activities across several phases of the engineering lifecycle. Reporting to the Head of Safety, this is a high profile assignment which requires working closely with the customer and relevant regulatory authorities. In this role you would be expected to develop and facilitate Safety and Environmental Management Systems and act as the primary point of contact with all safety stakeholders, deputising for the Head of Safety & Quality in their absence and chairing Hazard Management Meetings. In achieving your objectives you would be expected to effectively manage the Safety Programme Plan, co-ordinate all external audits and assessments, and encourage all personnel to foster a positive ‘safety culture’.
